MFA Initial Setup OFF Campus

All Faculty and Staff are required to use the MICROSOFT Factor Authenticator App(MFA) for accessing your DeSales account. 

You will be required to download the Microsoft Authentication App if you are currently only using text code.

ON your Phone 

  • JUST Download the MICROSOFT Authenticator App do NOT create an account  (we will come back to this later)

On your COMPUTER 

Open Browser and navigate to outlook.com.

Sign in with your DeSales Email and Password

  1. You will be directed to your DeSales University Portal page.  
  2. Sign in with your DeSales Email and Password, again

At Pop Up, More Information required, Select Next

Microsoft Authenticator link will appear.  App should already be downloaded. Select Next

If Prompted, allow notifications.

Once you get this window below, stop using the computer and go to your phone.

On Your Phone click the Microsoft Authenticator App

  • “Ready to add your first account”, click ADD ACCOUNT 

  • Select Work or School account 

  • At next window click Scan QR code (It might ask for access to the Camera, say OK) 

Go Back to your Computer

Hover phone over the QR code.  your Phone will accept the QR. You will see your DeSales email in the Microsoft Authenticator App.

Then on the computer click next. The computer will prompt you to test it out.

Enter the 2 digit code.  Computer will reflect Notification approved, Select Next

This completes the App part of registration.  

 

You can now register TEXTING on your Phone as your 2nd method.  (recommended)

Click on PHONE on the screen shown after you just finished process above.

Enter your phone number and select the Text me a code, Select Next

Enter the code.   Your phone will now be SMS verified.  Phone was registered successfully

Success . . .    Done!

You are now verified with 2 authentication methods

You also have the option to choose email as your second method, however it is recommended you don't.   If you can't get into your account, how will you verify with your email?
