The Brightspace Text Editor (pictured above) is available wherever there is a large editable textbox in Brightspace. This text editor does not apply to title boxes.
The Text Editor offers a very wide array of ways to customize the content you apply to the text box.
Going from left to right, line by line in the picture above:

The "Paragraph" option allows you to automatically change the way content is applied to the text box. The options here include:

B – This will Bold your text for emphasis

I – This will Italicize your text for emphasis

U - This will Underline your text for emphasis. Clicking the down arrow to the right of the U will offer more options

Subscript – subscript

The "A with a paintbrush" is your Text painter. This will affect the color of the selected text. Just highlight the text you want to color and click the paintbrush button and choose your desired color

The four horizontal lines is your text alignment button. This will affect where the text goes on the horizontal line it's on. Clicking the down arrow to the right of the button will offer additional alignments
