Connecting to G, H, I, K, L, or P Network Drives on a MAC

How to connect to a Network Share on a MAC -map drives

 

Connect to VPN First ( If you are Off-Campus )

Off-campus (remote or at Home) you must first VPN with GlobalProtect. You may skip to set up the network drive connection step if on Campus connected to the network. 

 

You will need to download and install Global Protect, if, you haven’t installed it already. This is our VPN software. This is what the icon looks like in the menu bar. 

    ↓ 

 

 

Click on the icon to get to the connection screen. Click Connect.

You will then be asked for your DeSales login credentials. Last name first initial for the username and your network/email password.

Once you are connected to the VPN, you can now connect to your shared drives.

 

Set Up Network Drive Connection

Launch the " Finder" application, If you click on GO in the top menu, then at the bottom of the menu you will see connect to server. Click connect to server. When the window pops up you will be prompted for the server path. The path in the picture will map your P drive. Just change the name with the same format.

When you click on connect to server a dialog box will come up with a field to type in the drive share path. In the pic. Below is the path to your P: drive. You would enter your user after home; last name first initial. Click connect

When the log on window appears, it may be populated with the wrong username.

Use your Desales credentials (lastnamefirstinitial) and your email password. If you check "remember this password" in the keychain, every time you connect you won’t have to enter your password. 

 

Once this step is completed the drive should mount on your desktop. 

 

Below are the different drive paths for the various shares. Copy the path, starting with "smb"

 

K: drive - smb:\\cvfs08\FacultyDept

G: drive  - smb:\\cvfs08\class

H: drive  - smb:\\cvfs08\FacApps

I: drive  - smb:\\cvfs08\StaffApps

L: drive  - smb:\\cvfs08\StaffDept

              P: drive - smb:\\cvfs08\home\lastnamefirstinitial
