The recent Windows 11 update may have affected your computer's audio drivers. For example, your microphone or speakers may no longer work properly. Follow the steps below to resolve the issue.
HP Computers
- In the Windows search bar, type HP Support Assistant.
- Select HP Support Assistant to open the application.
- On the dashboard, locate the Updates section.

- If the number of available updates is greater than 0, click Updates.
- Select Run updates as guest.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to install the updates, restarting your computer when prompted.
Note: The update process may take some time to complete.
Dell Computers
If the recent Windows 11 update affected your computer's audio (for example, your microphone or speakers are no longer working), follow these steps to update your audio driver.
- In the Windows search bar, type Dell Command | Update and open the application.
- If Dell Command | Update is not installed, search for SupportAssist instead and open it.
- Click Check for Updates.
- If an Audio Driver update is available, select it. You can also install all recommended updates.
- Click Install and follow the on-screen prompts.
- Restart your computer if prompted.
- After the restart, test your microphone or speakers to confirm the issue has been resolved.
If Dell Command | Update or SupportAssist is not installed:
- Open a web browser and go to https://www.dell.com/support.
- Click Detect PC or enter your computer's Service Tag.
- Select the Drivers & Downloads section.
- Install the recommended Audio driver (and any other critical driver updates).
- Restart your computer and test your audio devices.
Note: The update process may take several minutes, and your computer may restart more than once.
