How to Connect to a Network Share on a PC (Map Drives)

1. Connect to VPN First (Off‑Campus Only)

If you are off‑campus (remote or at home), you must connect to GlobalProtect VPN before accessing network drives.
If you are on campus and connected to DeSales Wi‑Fi, skip to Steps to Map a Network Drive.

Install GlobalProtect (if needed):
Download and install the GlobalProtect VPN client. Once installed, you’ll see its icon in the menu bar.

To connect:

  1. Click the GlobalProtect icon.
  2. Select Connect.
  3. Enter your DeSales login credentials:
    • Username: last name + first initial
    • Password: your network/email password
  4. Once connected, continue below.

 

2. Steps to Map a Network Drive

  1. Click the Start Menu (Windows icon in the bottom-left corner)
  2. Open File Explorer
  3. On the left sidebar, right-click on “This PC”
  4. Select “Map Network Drive”
  5. Choose your desired drive letter
  6. In the Folder field, enter the network path (see below)
  7. Check “Reconnect at Sign-in”
  8. Click Finish

Your drive should now appear under “This PC.”

P Drive Naming Format

Path: \\cvfs08\home\username

The username is typically your last name followed by your first initial.
Example: smithf
