Brightspace: Creating Content

Instructions on how to create content within Brightspace
Body
To create content:

Select your course
-
Locate content
-
Select the module or sub-module you would like to add content to

Click 'Upload/Create'

Upload Files
-
My Computer – Upload a file from your computer files for the students to view or download
-
Course Offering files – Upload a file that may already exist in your course from other modules or submodules
-
Video or Audio
-
Web Video or Audio – You can enter a URL directly from a source or Embed code
-
There are only so many videos supported using links/embeds, please review 'What video sites can be embedded?' before adding your video

Upload – You can upload a video or audio file directly from your computer with a maximum video size of 3 GB
-
Create a File – a file is a highly customizable page of information and can include a wide array of content and text

To create a file:
-
Enter a title
-
The "Hide from users" checkbox will hide the file from students regardless of availability dates. Check this box to hide the content indefinitely. Uncheck it to show the content.

Enter the information in the text box below the title
-
The text box allows for rich text and can accommodate

Pictures
-
Links

Videos
-
The text editor allows for easy inclusion of the topics above.

You can apply a template to the text box by clicking on the "Select a Document Template" button to the right of the title text box.

Instructors cannot create new templates
-
Create a Link
-
Title – The name of your link that is displayed to students
-
URL – The link to the resource for students
-
Add from Manage Files -- Upload a file that may already exist in your course from other modules or submodules

Add Object from LOR – Add a learning object from a source of university repositories

New SCORM/xAPI Object

New Assignment

New Checklist

To Create a Checklist:

Enter Title
-
(Optional) Add instructions for students to understand the usage and purpose of this checklist
-
Enter Title for checklist
-
Enter Title for first task
-
Add a Due Date – Enter the date the task must be checked by
-
Enter a description providing more information to students about this task
-
There is an option to create multiple checklists under a single title. This could be useful for having multiple different task sections for a singular assignment

New Discussion

New Quiz
-
New Survey – Brightspace has a tool for surveys built in
